Robin Schmidt is an award-winning filmmaker, creative director, and innovator at the forefront of Game Engine Native Entertainment (GENE). As CEO of BasedAF, Robin has led groundbreaking projects, including establishing a world-first real-time Unreal Engine production studio, creating playable experiences in Fortnite, and producing a sold-out 10,000 NFT collection in 24 hours. His work bridges filmmaking, virtual production, and the metaverse, blending storytelling with emerging technologies to craft immersive, interactive content.
With over two decades of experience across music videos, commercials, TV, and feature films, Robin has collaborated with leading global brands such as BMW, BBC, Shell, and MTV. In 2014, he directed the award-winning feature film DOG, achieving critical acclaim in international film festivals. Robin’s expertise spans production, VFX, and creative strategy, honed through leadership roles including Head of Video & Multimedia at The Defiant and Creative Director for Silicon Valley blockchain startups, where he integrated imaginative branding and storytelling with product innovation.
Robin is driven by a passion for narrative and a vision for the future of entertainment in digital spaces.
